From the 8th September 2000 we came, moving silently down through the year, living many secret lives, struggling to reach the time of the gathering. When the few who remain go back to the last. No one has ever known we were among you... Until now.

Nearly a year had passed since the last gathering and we were eager for it's new incarnation, and thus the scene was set on 4th September 2001 for the Third Evening.

Slowly we congregated at The Old House, massing our army of small tortoises. Soon we were all there bar Deeks and we bided our time waiting for his arrival. Which soon came, he pulled up in his mean machine, and the games began.

Sam was ready to prove his worth this year, and for the majority of the evening he was doing well. But his luck ran out towards the end, this coupled with his "It's the last game so what does it matter" attitude were to cost him the title.

Making it's first (and only?) unscheduled appearance in the games this year was Banzai, due to an error in the preparations. The Old Lady gained me (Chris) a small consellation for my disastrous horse round.

Soon after we broke for food, during which time we were rumbled so to speak by a silent boob.

By and by the games ended, Nick was presented with his trophy, and Sam had to be pleased with just not coming last. A position I myself held. Some things do change, given time.

After the evening had officially drawn to a close and all the publicty shots had been taken we travelled home in style courtesy of Deek's sore feet.

Will there be a fourth evening? No-one can say for certain. We can say we were there, when Sam didn't lose at The 3rd Annual Ketom Gambling Evening.
